HELICOPTER SAFETY AND ESCAPE
- Donning an aviation lifejacket
- Actions in preparation for a helicopter ditching and an emergency landing
- Actions following a variety of emergency scenarios with a helicopter including stable and unstable ditching.
- Donning a transit type survival suit and
- Emergency Breathing System
- Operation and use of an Emergency
- Breathing System (EBS)
SEA SURVIVAL
- Donning of a permanent buoyancy lifejacket prior to use in an emergency
- Actions when mustering and boarding a survival craft (TEMPSC) as passenger during launching operations and actions during and after boarding a marine liferaft
- The first aid actions suitable for use in a liferaft and TEMPSC
- Fitting of a helicopter strop and body posture during winching.
FIREFIGHTING AND SELF RESCUE
- Use of appropriate hand held portable fire extinguisher
- Use of a small bore fire hose reel and fire blanket
- Appropriate self rescue techniques using a smoke hood.
DESIGNED FOR
Personnel who are new to the offshore oil and gas industry and require the safety and emergency response training and assessment requirements to work in an offshore, cold water** environment and covers warm water (tropical) environment also.
DESCRIPTION
This course consists of four parts; safety induction, helicopter safety and escape, sea survival, fire fighting and self rescue.
ASSESSMENT
Trainees will demonstrate/explain/identify their level of knowledge, skills and understanding through oral and/or written questioning and practical activities.
CERTIFICATION
On successful completion trainees will be issued with a Statement of Attainment in IOSH/RCES Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) and an IOSH/BOSIET identity card. In addition to the RCES certification, a statement of Attainment will also be awarded for these units of competency:
- IOSH/RCES Undertake Helicopter Safety and Escape
- IOSH/RCES Undertake First Response to Fire
- IOSH/RCES Apply Offshore Facility Abandonment and Sea Survival Procedures and Practices
DELIVERY METHOD
7 hours of classroom theory PowerPoint presentations, including audio-visual material, practical desktop activities and discussion. 14 hours of practical components using specialised equipment in a range of work simulated scenarios.
MEDICAL CLEARANCE REQUIRED
Trainees will be required to supply a completed medical clearance on their first day of training. This medical clearance must have been completed by a medical practitioner, within three months of the start of the course.
VALIDITY
This course is valid for four years from the date of training. However, specific company may require this course to be refreshed at a more frequent interval.
