All employers must identify the hazardous chemicals they use and develop a hazard communication program (HAZCOM) to inform their employees about those chemicals. However, failing to maintain a written HAZCOM program is one of the most common OSHA violations.
This course is an introduction to Part 1910 Subpart Z - Toxic and Hazardous Substances - 1910.1200 Hazard Communication and contains the latest Global Harmonization Standards. Written program requirements, labelling, and safety data sheet (SDS) maintenance and training will be discussed. A sample written hazard communication program is also reviewed.
